Opening Plenary of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly

Today is the opening of the 68th Session of the General Assembly. The opening session will be available online here: http://webtv.un.org/

The First Plenary Meeting of the 68th Session begins at 3:00 PM.

The President of the 68th Session of the General Assembly is Ambassador John Ashe of Antigua and Barbuda. Just minutes after his election in June he  said that in 18 months, the world body would launch an agenda for sustainable development for all, which “may very well be the boldest and most ambitious project that the United Nations has ever had to accomplish.”

He steps into this post in a time when the global challenges continue to confuse many. If you would like to hear him in an interview shortly before he Chairs the first Plenary,
